Science Policy Debate

"Politicians debate 'The S-Word'" was as interesting as I'd hoped, with surprising level of agreement that UK science should be non-party-political, though there were plenty of disagreement around the fringes, especially over libel cases and the independence & free-speech of scientific advisors

It's good to see the media taking an interest.

From the meeting agenda, the speakers were:

  • Lord Drayson, Minister for Science & Innovation
  • Adam Afriyie MP, Conservative Party Shadow Minister
  • Dr Evan Harris MP, Liberal Democrat Party Shadow Minister
They had several follow-up debates in London, which were well-reported.
